Mission
Bridge academic and economic gaps for different types of students and individuals through scholarships, workshops, and community-driven events.
Target Outcome
By strategically combining scholarships, community engagement, and visibility, the Akugbe-Oretin Development Association will be able to expand its impact, collaborate with partner organizations, and fulfill its mission to bridge educational and economic gaps.
Primary Objectives
1) Strengthen community engagement and goodwill through visible, impactful initiatives.
2) Partner with organizations that serve marginalized communities.
3) Develop organizational infrastructure to support long-term growth and sustainability.
4) Raise awareness of the Akugbe-Oretin Development Association in Markham, Illinois and neighboring communities.
Scholarship Fund Initiative - Types of Scholarships
General Scholarships: Multiple awards for academic achievement.
Memorial Scholarships: To honor A.O.D.A. members who embody specific qualities.
Need-Based Scholarships: For individuals who meet the following criteria:
- Disadvantaged groups
- Juvenile justice involvement
- Foster care or homelessness
- Limited income or resources
Goals of Scholarship Program
- Bridge educational and economic opportunity gaps.
- Expand organization's reach beyond Markham into surrounding communities.
- Inspire students to aim for academic excellence.
- Support those who face obstacles and systemic barriers.
